The kit comprises of the guide set from the TbT Standard kit with the addition of a pot of Bum-Slide hi moly paste, and a short stroke extension. The short stroke extension fits onto the front of the piston reducing the volume of air being pushed out on firing. This allows the piston to travel faster, over a shorter distance for the same power.

Paul put a 25mm titanium piston system into my HW77 Mk1: this has been short stroked, glided and t.p opened. I am still playing around with it, not least of which in finding it crept up to 810-812, despite having an easy cocking stroke. Removed one packing washer to get it back to high 780s.

I have not had work done Nick Gibney, but my .22 TX200HC Mk3 has recently returned from a stage 3 tune with titanium piston by Paul Short. It is a better rifle for the work done too. No twang, little recoil, so much so when shooting it with a fairly thick jacket on, I felt no recoil at all. Accuracy is on par with its pre-tune status, but is is.

From my experience Paul is a very competent engineer and airgun tuning specialist.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend his workmanship and skills to anybody.

For your HW97 if you dont want to fettle yourself and you have the money and would like to get the best go for a V-Glide kit. Don't know if you can get it with a more powerful FAC-spring. TinBum is nice qualitiy at a relatively fair price and quitens nicely. I suggest you go for the MAXI-kit which includes the spring with nicely fitted top hat.

TBT, Welsh Willy, Vortek or a bespoke spring guide combo from @shauny or @Frog. I've tried, used and still using them all (less the WW stuff). I have a Vortek PG4 kit awaiting installation and power adjustment - it seems pretty much plug and play less a tweak for power but probably at the top end of the cost scale.
